The enamel we use is composed of tiny glass particles, in the form of a paste/liquid applied with a fine brush. The enameling process consists of fusing the glass particles with heat to obtain a layer of color on the metal.
The 3 steps to enameling our jewelry are:
Preparing the metal so that the enamel adheres to it: a crucial step because it is important that the jewelry is clean. This is why we prepare our jewelry by cleaning it thoroughly using a brass brush.
Applying the enamel using the painting process: the enamel powder is mixed with a painting medium and is painted directly with a brush on the surface of the jewelry.
Firing: before this step, we make sure to dry the pieces well, the firing time will depend on the size of the jewelry. Generally, firing lasts between 30 seconds and two minutes. The firing temperature varies from 800°C to 1000°C. Each color will have a specific firing time to reveal its full intensity. During firing, the enamel goes through three stages as it melts: crystalline/granular, “orange peel” effect, smooth and fully fired.
